    A deep dive into the world of tea through the lens of specialty coffee. We’ll compare and contrast a variety of topics and taste some interesting teas along the way. This is as much a tasting as it is a learning experience.

    Materials Fee: $5: Includes 4 to 5 servings of tea to brew at home.

    Materials Fee $15 includes one gaiwan and 4 to 5 servings of tea to brew at home.

    Materials Fee: $30 includes two gaiwans and 8 servings of tea to take home. 

    The gaiwan included is effectively the "cupping bowl" for tea. It is a 70ml high fired porcelain gaiwan made in the late 90’s and is the perfect tool for evaluating tea. Having more than one means you can compare teas. We use these tools almost daily to evaluate and enjoy tea. 

    Course Description:

    Tea & Coffee, two sides of the same coin: caffeinated plants, processed by people and intensely iterated upon over long periods of time. 

    This class will be a deep dive into the world of tea viewed through the lens of specialty coffee. We’ll compare and contrast agronomy, processing, preparation, take a look at past, think about the present, and what’s in store for the future. Along the way we will taste a variety of teas from different genres and regions. 

    This class is for professionals and enthusiasts alike. The aim is to increase your understanding of tea, inspire further exploration and perhaps it will also change your perception of coffee.
