what are good things?

Both tea and coffee are the result of a conversation between humankind and the natural world. This dialogue must arise from a place of respect, reverence and humility rather than force, control or oppression. All of the farmers, producers, roasters, teachers, and collectors who share in these products have a deep regard for the natural world.

While we enjoy good flavor, it is not our primary selection criteria. We place our emphasis on all of the other things. The people, the methods, the landscapes, the traditions, the relationships, the energy, the beauty, the time and the experience.

The inherent quality of tea and coffee goes beyond visual assessments of leaf or seed integrity and the quantification of defects. It begins on an ecological scale. We believe that no thing can be fully healthy in an unhealthy environment and there is no amount of poison that is not in some way toxic. We do not support the use of agrochemicals, pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers in the cultivation of tea, coffee, herbs, flowers or their surroundings.
