蓋碗 Gàiwǎn which literally translates to lidded bowl. This is the single most utilized piece of teaware in our collection and I cannot stress the importance of you having a couple or more of these. They are the ideal vessel for tasting and evaluating one or more teas. These are new old stock and were made sometime in the mid to late 90's in 景德鎮 Jǐngdézhèn China. The porcelain back then on average was of a finer quality, natural and with no chemical additives. These were high fired in a gas kiln and present the tea simply as it is. Despite what you might think seemingly impartial non-porous glazed porcelain is not all equal in it's effects on brewed tea. The gaiwans are about 70ml and we typically use anywhere from 3 to 4 grams of tea in them. We hope you all enjoy and use these as much as we do!
