2020 Wait Time

This tea was created together with the slow Disney project as part of a series that explores time, place and a variety of more philosophical concepts. It features a wrapper based on the iconic peaks of the Thunder Mountain roller coaster at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando Florida. The attraction is now temporarily closed for refurbishment and has been for some time, which brings us to the concept of waiting. One that is certainly important for our everyday life and an inherent part of the theme park experience. 

The tea itself has been charcoal roasted on the darker side which is a more traditional approach. One interesting facet of this style of production is that of waiting. When you roast a tea on the darker side it benefits by resting for a period of time to allow the overtly roasty flavors to subside and integrate more properly with the tea creating balance and sweetness. For these heavier roasted teas we typically allow them to rest for a couple years and they will continue to get better with age and proper storage.

If you’re a coffee drinker this may be a tea you can enjoy when you’re looking for something less stimulating. The tea itself is composed of more mature leaves which typically contain less caffeine than newly sprouted bud and leaf sets. As such this tea is quite calm and so it is suitable for drinking most times of day and into the evening.
